WEB PAGE HIT COUNTER - VERSION 2.4
This page has been accessed times.
This is the best Web counter, by far, that I've found. All credit for it goes
to Muhammad A. Muquit
To use it, see below
The new version (2.4) is being installed:
- To offer new features
- For security reasons
Migrating to the new version - known issues
- Count files
The database files that maintain your page counters will be automatically
updated; no action is required on your part to prepare for the new version.
The counters used by the older version are being preserved so that
the new version can pick up where the old one left off without
interrupting the counts.
However, the counter file now records the most recent IP address
as well as the count
itself. This means that the counter won't increase each time
you hit your Web browser's ``RELOAD'' key.
The reason for this is to make it harder for a
single user to hit on a page over
and over and over to artificially increase the counter.
If you don't know what
this means, you should be able to safely ignore this.
- Frame Thickness and Transparency
In this new version the Frame Thickness (FT=) option has been
changed. Values greater than 5 now invoke special 3D effects. If your
counter now looks funny, try changing the FT option to have a
value of 5 (or less). Another problem can occur if you use the
TRGB option. Try disabling this
(i.e. remove the TRGB=0;0;0 option)
if your counter (or part
of it) appears ``washed out''.
- Access authoriztion
Only our customers will be allowed to access the counter. If you are
having problems and you suspect that your Web page isn't in the
authorization list, please contact us.
Using the hits counter
- For an exhaustive list of options, look here
- For digit (font) styles, see below
- Usage sample:
in your html file where you wish the counter to be shown (all in one line).
Change username to your username, and if you want a style other
than type "A", change DD= to B, C, D, or E. If you need more
than one hits counter file, change count.dat accordingly.
Please! Make sure that the first part of the hits counter file name
is your unix username!
The first time you use it, the counter will be 5. Change st=5
if you want some other initial count.
Count has already been installed on lightlink, so all
you need is this <IMG...> reference.
AVAILABLE STYLES (CHANGE DD= ACCORDINGLY):
